There are plenty of changes coming our way with the new iOS 18 operating systems Apple will be rolling out early this fall. Many Apple enthusiasts have downloaded the public BETA of the operating systems and are writing about their experiences. There are many new features. I cover them in one of my latest podcasts. The Mac Minutes Podcast, Episode 257, which can be found on Apple Podcasts or your favorite podcatcher. The website host for the show is macminutes.blubrry.net
Learning the new features will be a focus soon after the public version is released. We will invite Dan Wassink to give us an overview early after its public release. Downloading a BETA program presents problems with how the operating system interacts with applications. Most people who use BETA versions do not use it on their primary device.
We are planning to hold an in-person meeting in September, December and May. The remaining will be on Zoom. The first meeting will be on Sept. 11 at 5:45. p.m. The positives about going to Zoom for more of the meetings is that meetings can go overtime and less expense. Plus, in the winter, it means you can attend the meeting from home.
We are now operating pretty much at a balanced budget and hope to continue the practice. Dues will be increasing by $10 in the new AAUG year so there is an incentive now to renew and more savings can be obtained with a two-year membership.
You can mail your membership to AAUG or contact Dale Hanson.
I would also like to thank Bill Woollen for his generous contribution of $250 to support AAUG programs. With his and other donations we can provide access to speakers and other support to the club.
The next C&C is Saturday, July 20 at 10 a.m. We will be revising our Zoom C&C sign in to an easy to remember zoom access. This is one of the many improvements you will see in the next year in the way of advertising and meeting reminders.
Feel free to attend the August BOD meeting. It will be Wednesday, Aug 28, 2024 at 6:30 pm on line. I will be putting out our new access code prior to the meeting. We have a dedicated full board this year. I must commend them for their 100 percent attendance in June! It’s great to have a full team.
Thank you again for allowing me to serve AAUG and all the enjoyment Apple technology brings me. Enjoy the summer if I don’t see you before September.
Best wishes,
Jon
